For me, the orange shade could definitely work as part of an editorial look. I wore bright lips like this in my last video, when I was trying to emulate the mad hatter's eyebrows on my lips instead. Before my last look, I have been for some reason drawn to orange lips for youtube looks everytime, admittedly not all the time as bright as this.
I think as a general rule, those bright lipsticks can be worn but they need work, lots of makeup around it, as part of a whole look. I dont think I could ever wear the lilac one, (I would freak out with my yellow teeth) but they would work with a gradient of black or dark purple lip liner around them.
One thing we need to remember: Those would only work as part of a whole look and they look a bit cack and shocking because you are just swatching them, and kind enough to show the whole face to give us a better idea of what it would look like that. People, you'll have to remember this is not a showcase of a look, it's just a swatch of a lipstick on a nearly bare face of makeup.
To be honest D'Lilac only looks good one really light cool toned skin or very dark skin. It looks amazing on black skin: http://www.doedeereblogazine.com/articles/beauty-shoot-with-atim-birungi
I have the hugest lemming for airborne unicorn! Please do a lip swatch of that at some point ^^ Jeri xox
I have to agree with Jo when she say's all the shades look hideouse. I mean seriously, what grown woman is really going to wear those out on an everyday basis. There far more suited to one off looks, but then would you really want to pay that much for something that you only wear a few times?
I for one loathe the lipsticks.. i feel that for £14 they should be a lot better!! lol I had a total explosion/mini rant about them on Lipglossiping's blog this morning.
Love the fact you posted those last 2 pics!!!! Deffo not for a romantic dinner out ;)
Is that D'Lilac swatch for real, or have you been playing with MS Paint?
ReplyDeleteI am unmoved by these lipsticks.
Both swatches are with two/three swipes of the lipstick, straight from the tube.
ReplyDeleteAs you can tell by the shiny face and unruly eyebrows, the only editing that's been done on these pictures is to add watermarks.
Oh my. That D' Lilac is hideous, looks like correction fluid. The other one is pretty but I hate when lipsticks stain!

The D'Lilac has left me speechless, and not in a great way. Brave to post the picture!
ReplyDeleteOh these are very "special".
ReplyDeleteI giggled hehe.. you're so brave posting them pics. I think the whole shades are hideous and I wont be purchasing any.

Hmmm...not sure D'Lilac is your colour....
ReplyDeleteFinally managed to return my lips to their natural shade by around lunchtime yesterday!
oh my lord! Well you are brave to post the pictures hehe. I still like the orange lippy though, it has scope if worn sheer.

Dare you to go out the street with a "Kiss Me Quick" hat on and that lilac lipstick...
ReplyDeleteHmm. Isn't it weird that the orange one (one of the least likely to succeed in theory) seems to look the best on people?
Can they be sheered out with gloss or are they too thick? Don't know why I'm asking really - lipsticks aren't my thing. Especially these!
You're so brave for posting these :| I love me some brights but I would NEVER wear these colours unless they were super fricken sheer.
ReplyDeleteNot that I would ever buy them, I do not approve of Lime Crime anyway :P
looks so lovely!
