Skincare of the Week 06.12.15
Having sensitive skin whilst the seasons are changing can be awkward, certainly I find that I have to be extra careful with the active ingredients in skincare when the weather is at its least predictable. Still being ill with a cough really isn't helping, either. My skin has been on the verge of being really reactive this week (I can usually tell as tiny bumps start appearing on my temples), so I've swapped my routines around a bit, to be a bit kinder to my skin.
I have dropped the acids from my daytime routines and I'm now only using them a couple of times a week - at night. This gives my skin time to recover from using them whilst I sleep, and stops my skin getting irritated by the weather so much during the day. I'm going to avoid using glycolic all over for a while until my skin settles down again.
In other news, I've re-introduced one of my all-time favourite skincare brands back into my routine - namely Kate Somerville. I'm so happy to have Goat Cream (you can see it in my Thursday PM pic above) back in my routine. It's gentle and soothing, and thanks to the lactic acid, it's also ever so slightly exfoliating. I've been using the Pixi Skintreats Glow Peel Pads to exfoliate my chin separately, however, as I have a semi-permanent build up of sebum there, and I'm hoping the 20% glycolic on those pads will help deal with that.
Now, if only these things helped with cold sores ...

Skincare of the Week - 22 August 2015
Joy abounds in the Get Lippie household whenever a parcel from Zelens shows up, and this week I was delighted that the two newest serums in the range appeared on my doorstep. I'll be giving Zelens Intense Defence a good going over in the next few weeks, so expect my skincare routines to get a little ... visually undistinguishable ... for a while. This was a simple routine that I'm already used to, so I can see if the serum does its stuff.

Empties!
By Get Lippie
I'm having one of those weeks when all my favourite skin care items run out at the same time, and it's INFURIATING!
Champneys Spa Skin Super Rich Cleansing Balm:
Slightly grainy (and a little exfoliating as a result), I took this pot of balm on my honeymoon with me because I didn't want to use a chemical exfoliator, what with their sun-sensitivity issues and all, and I couldn't be bothered packing two products when only one can do all the work, and I've not looked back since. A lovely rich balm with excellent cleansing properties, this is a brilliant (cheap!) cleanser, particularly if you totally ignore the instructions on the jar, and remove it properly with warm water and a face cloth, like what you are supposed to do.
Zelens PHA Bio-Peel Resurfacing Facial Pads
God, I love these. Gentler than straight glycolic acid, but still packing a tingly punch of exfoliating goodness, I start to panic every time I get past the halfway point on a jar of these. Used after cleansing, these pads gently help your skin reset itself, and make you glow. PHA is also humectant, so it binds moisture to your skin too, as well as resurfacing. Only drawback is the price, which is £65 for 50 pads. I have been known to cut them in half to eke them out longer ...
Hydraluron
My love for Hydraluron is fairly widely known, this is either my third or fourth tube now, and I can't imagine life without it. Which (bearing in mind that I was totally underwhelmed with it when I first started using it) is going some! This is one of those products that doesn't really appear to do much whilst you're using it, then, when you've run out, you can really tell the difference - my skin is just more dull when I don't have this in my routine. I use it to layer extra moisture into my skin, and I apply after my serum/oil, and before my moisturiser. I panicked the other day when I realised the tube was empty, I don't mind admitting. Yes, I am a big sad.
Aromatherapy Associates Soothing Cleansing Balm
For days when I don't really fancy a slightly scrubby cleanse with the Champneys Balm, this gloriously silky and gently fragranced balm cleanser does the job. It melts makeup and grime on contact, and never leaves my skin feeling dry or stripped. There are no bells or whistles to this balm, it is just a good, gentle, and even beautiful product. Oh, and it's in a tube. I fupping LOVE balms that come in a tube. Love them! MORE TUBES IN BEAUTY PACKAGING, PLEASE. Have I mentioned how much I hate sticking my fingers into a jar of runny goop? Well, I do. A lot. I actually keep a teaspoon in my bathroom to actively avoid having to dip my fingers in stuff. It's a bit weird, I know, but we have a million teaspoons for some reason.
I've had a lot of compliments on my skin recently - and I've just got through an entire winter wearing only tinted moisturiser (or the occasional CC cream -more about those soon) which is entirely unheard of! I'm normally caked in foundation from October to April, every year, so this is massive for me, and it's (almost) entirely down to the products featured here.
What are your most repurchased products?

Empties!
I don't finish many products in all honesty, and of those that I do finish, I don't often repurchase. These three products have been through the wringer and then some, and I have backups (multiples in some cases!) of all of them.
Hydraluron
I'll be honest, when I was first using this, I wasn't much impressed. I'd seen raves - LOTS of raves - about this product in a lot of places, but I couldn't see what, if anything it was doing for my skin, so I stopped using it. BIG mistake. Dehydration lines soon started forming, and my skin was taking longer to "plump" up in the mornings. Now I'm a total convert, and use this on a daily basis, my skin is far more resilient, and feels dewier and fresher than it's been for a long time as a result. For me, the true sign of a great product is that you see a major difference when you stop using it, and Hydraluron passes that test, in spades.
Clarins Gentle Exfoliator
I LOVE this stuff. It's gentle enough to use every day (even though the packaging suggests you use it 2-3 times a week), and it constantly reveals fresh new skin. I use it every other day, and found the bottle lasted the best part of five months. Somewhat more than a toner, but less harsh than a full-on chemical peel, it's perfect for sensitive skins who need a bit of brightening. Wouldn't be without it now - and have purchased a cupboard full of it, just in case!
Chantecaille Just Skin Anti Smog Tinted Moisturiser
This makes my skin glow, to the extent that complete strangers have commented on my "beautiful skin" (which I find hilarious, tbh), it's a bit more pigmented than your average tinted moisturiser, and it layers wonderfully, meaning that even blotchy-faces and high-colouring can be covered, which is great. This is also great skincare, and I have been known to use this as my only moisturising product, in an emergency, with no ill-effects. Yes, it's pricey (£58 worth of pricey to be exact), but my last tube lasted well over a year, as a little bit goes a very long way. When I need bit more coverage, I simply powder over it with something like MAC's Studio Fix, but mostly I just leave the glowing, healthy finish unadorned on my skin
The Fine Print: A mixture of PR samples, purchases, and re-purchases. Oh, and re-re-purchases.
