LipsNspritz of the ... er ... Fortnight.
I hate being ill, and I really hate being ill to the extent that it interferes with my posting schedule. Nonetheless, here's a double-dose (whether you wanted it or not, frankly) of my weekly diary of lipstick and perfume-wearing. The above pic is from the week ending 22/11/15.
Monday was Etat Libre d'Orange Like This, alongside Chantecaille Lip Chic in Wild Rose. Like This is probably my favourite "gourmand" fragrance, being a blend of pumpkin, mandarin, ginger and immortelle. It should smell like a pumpkin pie - which it does, to an extent - but it also smells warm, sophisticated and slightly tweedy from the prickle of ginger. Perfect for autumn, and just plain delicious at any time.
Tuesday was continuing the gourmand theme with Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille, alongside Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Rose. Both are easy and simple to wear, without being too challenging. Ambre Vanille is sweet and warm, and Rose is a beautiful neutral, which will work on many colourings.
Wednesday brought Hermes Eau d'Orange Vert which is one of my favourite citrus fragrances of all time - I go a little insane for mint in fragrances, and this combination of bitter orange, sweet orange, and just a hint of peppermint oil makes me a little weak at the knees. I only wish it lasted longer. I wore it with the rosy mauve of Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in RD529, which is quite an opaque liquid lipstick.
Thursday I wanted to wear a classic, so I did. Guerlain L'Heure Bleue, a beautiful dance of orange blossom and iris, coupled with vanilla and a little spicy carnation, I adore this fragrance. It feels blue all the way through, so I wore a blue-toned lipstick too, which was Illamasqua Magnetism. I got several compliments on the fragrance, as I always do when I wear it, and resolved to wear it more often. Which I will when this project is over.
I fully intended to wear Tuberose Criminelle by Serge Lutens on Friday, but I was too ill to cope with the rubbery camphoraceousness (TOTALLY a word - if possibly not the spelling). I spent the day feeling sorry for myself in pyjamas instead.
Saturday I was attempting to make myself feel better, so a hot shower and a thorough dowsing in DKNY Drop of Rose, which I love for its soft and rosy approximation of baby powder, and a slight resemblance to Ombre Rose by Jean Jacques Brosseau. It is pure comfort in a bottle, and I love it. I paired it with Becca lipgloss in Palm Breeze, a bubblegum pink that wasn't too challenging.
Part two tomorrow ...

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge RD 413
I'm not a huge fan of liquid lipsticks in all honesty. I'm a cack-handed muppet and there's a lot of scope for messy liplines when it comes to liquid products, when you add in the fact that one side of my upper lip is fuller than the other, well, liquid lipsticks are an entire world of pain for me. However, some shades can be worth the pain, is this red from Shiseido one of them? Let's see.
I like the sleek and tactile packaging, which mirrors the camellia on the packaging. RD413 is a bright tomato red, which is a little scary in the tube, even for a bright lip-lover like myself:
To my eye, this looked rather light and bright to me, and I was worried that even I wouldn't be able to carry off the shade. However, I was reassured a little on swatching, as, whilst it's a rather sheer formula (surprisingly), it's also a beautiful colour:
The red is a little on the orange side (my camera is definitely pulling out the orange tones here), but it's definitely a red, and it's beautiful in wear. However, I do have a couple of issues with the formula, it's sheer and glossy (oh so very, very glossy), but as a result, the pigments can appear a little patchy in close up:
In real-life it is less of an issue, as my lips aren't actually THIS BIG. Nearly, admittedly, but my head actually isn't three feet across, so you don't really notice the streakiness so much when my lips are in 3d rather than on a computer screen.
It's comfortable to wear, and non-drying, but it doesn't really have any lasting properties. The sheerness of the pigment make it more like a gloss than a lipstick, so it needs fairly frequent reapplication. However, some of the shades in this range are rather more pigmented, so I suspect this problem would be limited to this shade in particular.
Overall, this is a beautiful shade, but has it won me over to the liquid lipstick side? I don't know. I'd definitely try more from the range as it's a good, comfortable formula but for £23.50 a pop, well ...

Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Colours
Being a beauty blogger, sometimes you get a chance to look at things before they're released, and I can't deny that it's a massive perk. These little beauties are the new, updated version of Shiseido's infamous cream eyeshadows.
They're cutely packaged in little glass jars:
I was sent six to take a look at, so let's see the shades:
There are twelve shades in the range, all of which seem very wearable (I'm loving the pink and the purple, but, alas, they're not in this batch!):
What we have here is a khaki (my fave!), a yellow-green, an "old gold", a black, a white, and a blue.
All the shades are packed with shimmer, and they are very complex, not to mention pretty:
Shiseido say that these include "jewel reflecting powder" that reflects light from every angle, creating a luminous glow around the shades. I have to agree, even the black (in the flesh) appears to have a glowing shimmer around it. They are beautifully creamy, and apply like a dream, they also blend out very easily, without dragging, which is just what you need in a cream shadow. The swatches show one pass on clean, unprimed skin.
Shiseido also say, however, that you don't need to use an eye base "and the colour lasts, and lasts, never creasing, or fading". I have to say that I don't agree. I've worn two or three of these shades over the last couple of weeks, and they don't last as well as you'd think based on this description. I found that over the course of three to four hours or so, that I'd have creasing, and by around hour six, the colours would have faded quite considerably. I didn't try setting them with powder, as I didn't want to spoil the shades, and I wanted to see how well they worked under their own steam.
This swatch shows that colours can and will smudge after application:
This was taken ten minutes after applying, where I just rubbed a finger, very lightly, over the swatches.
These shimmering cream shadows are beautiful. I'm just sorry they didn't live up to the claims made on the press release. I'll still use them, but I'll just be aware I'll need to carry them around with me for touch-ups.
Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eyeshadows.are available from 20th August, and will cost £20 each.
