Mary Kay Autumn Collection Competition
I love autumn, don't you? And I love autumn because makeup-wise it means we move away from the (unwearable to me) pastels of spring, and the bronzers of summer into lovely berry shades and gorgeous sludgey shades of makeup, which I always find so comforting. This coupled with snuggly blankets on the sofa, long evenings drinking red wine, and the prospect of Christmas on the horizon thrills my cynical little heart.
Other things thrill me too. I went to tea with the Mary Kay company recently, and was amazed to discover that they're one of the best-selling makeup companies in the whole world, and they're one of the top ten skincare sellers in the world too! It's criminal that we barely know they exist here in the UK - my US readers are always emailing me asking what I think of the products, and until recently, I didn't even know you could get them here! Well, you can, and in the new year, they're going to be launching a fab new way of getting hold of their products, which I'll tell you all about nearer the time.
Meanwhile, in order to celebrate autumn, and the soon-to-be increased visibility of Mary Kay here in the UK, I'm offering one lucky reader the chance to win the entire autumn collection of Mary Kay products that you see pictured here, which includes four nail polishes, three lipsticks, one eyeshadow quad (and a palette to put it in), three CityScape perfumed products (a shower gel, a body oil and matching perfume) plus their brand new exfoliating kit which will retail for £50 once it's on sale later this month. All in all the prize bag is worth almost £200!
To enter, just follow the guidelines below, and bear in mind, I will be checking the entrants carefully! Sadly, because the prize contains nail varnish, this competition will be open to entrants from the UK only. Sorry about that!

1000 Post Giveaway with Debenhams!
When I started Get Lippie nearly five years ago, I didn't really expect much - I wasn't a makeup artist, and I didn't think anyone (outside of a very select few people, and possibly their cat), would have any real desire to read my wibblings about lipgloss. Now, 1000 posts and almost five years later, it's hard to believe that I resisted blogging for so long!
What started, too many years ago to mention, as an obsession borne at the local branch of Debenhams, has now grown into a blog with a four man team behind the scenes, and, along the way there have been award nominations galore, some amazing products, including a couple named after the blog! And some hugely surreal and enjoyable experiences! I never imagined spending all my wages on lipstick would lead to such things, it's been a strange and wild ride ...
Now, today just happens to be my birthday, but I'd like to give you guys a present, as practically everyday feels a tiny bit like a birthday these days ;) After we had a bit of a brainstorm at Get Lippie HQ, we decided to offer one lucky reader what we think is an amazing prize. Between the four of us, we've got a couple of perfume experts, a couple of lipstick obsessives, one professional makeup artist, and four - count them! - FOUR complete cosmetic and skincare nerds. And we love shopping for makeup. And skincare. And fragrance. And a couple of us like shopping for shoes, too.
Anyway!
And we want to take you shopping! Whether you're looking for your perfect red lipstick, that glorious hot date fragrance, want a complete makeover or just want to know your Clarins from your Urban Decay, we - the entire team - will meet you on a date of your choice in Debenhams Oxford Street, and you'll be able to pick all of our brains!
Now, makeup shopping can be expensive, especially at the moment, so this personal shopping evening comes complete with £250 worth of vouchers for you to spend in-store, a Beauty Club Card which comes pre-loaded with £20's worth of Beauty Club points, and you'll have your pick of in-store treatments whilst you're there, too. So if you fancy a quicky manicure, or an eyebrow shape whilst you're there, you can! Oh, and when you're done, Debenhams will give you a fancy goody bag featuring products from many of their brands too! The Beauty Hall at Debenhams Oxford Street is one of my favourite places, and we're all looking forward to seeing you there!
Just follow the instructions on Rafflecopter below to enter. We'll be making the final draw on Tuesday 24th June at lunchtime, and we'll be in touch ASAP after that to arrange the details. Please make sure you pay special attention to the terms and conditions though, we beg you!
The prizes again, are:
One private personal shopping event with the Get Lippie Team (or individual members thereof) at Debenhams Oxford Street, London.
£250's worth of Debenhams gift vouchers
£20's worth of Beauty Club Points
Selection of in-store treatments on the night (subject to availability on the night)
Goody Bag featuring Debenhams beauty brands.
The total prize value is around £500! What are you waiting for?
As Rafflecoptor, for some reason, isn't showing it: the official tweet to enter this giveaway is:
"I'm celebrating @Get_Lippie's 1000th post by entering her £250+ giveaway with @Debenhams! #GetLippie1000 http://tinyurl.com/lpxynrh"
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Prize sponsored in part by Debenhams, to whom we are profoundly grateful.

Win an entire year's supply of Alpha H Liquid Gold!
Anyone who's read my blog for any length of time knows I'm a big fan of the Alpha H brand, Michelle, the brand owner, is a wonderful woman who I admire greatly, and I'm always aware that the products in the range are ones that have her own personal seal of approval, Michelle knows great skincare*! They get my seal of approval too, so when Alpha H asked me if I'd like to give away a year's supply of their cult (and hero) product, Liquid Gold, I leapt at the chance!
Featuring ingredients such as glycolic acid and licorice, Liquid Gold is an overnight treatment with a slight difference. It looks and feels like a toner, but will exfoliate and smooth your skin a treat - there's nothing quite like the Alpha H tingle before bed! Oh, and you don't need a separate night cream, either, so so faffing. I love waking up to skin you can really tell has had a difference made to it overnight!
QVC like it so much that they've made Liquid Gold their product of the month, and to celebrate, there's a special "supersize" 200ml edition available at the bargain price of £37! ml for ml, this would normally cost £63, so this is a heck of a saving, if you ask me. Which you didn't, but keep reading anyway.
However, you could win an entire year's supply, for free, simply by answering this simple question in the comments on this post:
"Other than Glycolic Acid name the key ingredient in Liquid Gold, known for it’s calming and anti-inflammatory properties, that could be mistaken for a traditional confectionery sweet?"
Please leave your answer, your name, and an email address you can be contacted on in the comments on this post before 8pm on Friday 30th August.
If you're not lucky enough to win, you can pick up your own supersize bottle of Liquid Gold here, but be quick, as the offer ends as soon as the month does! Good luck!
Winners will be drawn at random by an independent party on 30th August, and the prize will be delivered by a third party. Editor's decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Email addresses will not be used for any purpose other than to contact the competition winner, and will be removed from the post as soon as the draw is made.
* She also knows origami, but I've been told not to mention that in this post, so just forget you read this, okay?

Win! A Month's Supply of Pure Gold Collagen
My final giveaway this week is probably my favourite, to be honest. I'm giving away a full month's supply of Pure Gold Collagen supplement, which would normally retail at £107. I'm all about the supplements at the moment, and this is one of my favourites. Okay, that's mainly because it tastes absolutely delicious, but still, it's not a hardship to take a supplement if it tastes, good, right? I'm just nearly two weeks into my regime at the moment, so keep your eyes peeled for a full review once it's over! Collagen is absolutely essential to healthy skin, and this is an easily absorbed way to take it, alongside some more essential vitamins and minerals too, such as vitamins, C, E and, B6.
Pure Gold Collagen is a cult product that is regularly sold out on the Boots website so this giveaway might be the only way to get your hands on some, so get entering!
Important note: Pure Gold Collagen is not suitable for vegans.

Win! A Vita Liberata pHenomenal Tones Tanning Kit!
As most of my readers will know, I'm not actually much of a one for fake tan, but this one struck me as a bit different. The main reason I don't much like fake tan is because I am lazy. Very, very lazy, and, well, fake tan takes a lot of effort to maintain, all that exfoliating, moisturising, applying and showering off for just a couple of days of tanned skin? Meh. Vita Liberata, however, has fixed at least part of that, with their new pHenomenal Tones tan, which promises to last between two to three weeks! For a lazy bum like me, that's something I'm willing to try.
Currently available at Boots in shades Fair and Medium, Vita Liberata are offering one lucky reader of Get Lippie the chance to try their pHenomenal Tones tanning mousse in Dark. It comes complete with a tanning mitt, so you won't get your palms dirty! The kit sells for £37.50.
Rafflecopter will take you through the rest, you get one entry for leaving a comment on the blog post, and if you decide also to like Get Lippie on Facebook, you get an extra entry.
Good luck, and happy tanning!

Win! Any Product from Sarah Jones London
Beloved by celebrities such as Jade Jagger and Sienna Miller, the Sarah Jones London range of organic body and face products is rapidly gaining a following in the Lippie household too. They're luxurious, but not too budget-busting, and the Rose Kiss toner is what I turned to recently when I ran out of my beloved Darphin Intral toner. It's a real pleasure to use, and I'm looking forward to trying more from the range, ASAP. I love an organic range that doesn't look like it came from someone's kitchen, and this is a rather lovely range indeed.
Sarah Jones have very kindly offered to let one of my readers pick a product of their choice from the range to try for themselves, so go take a look at the Sarah Jones London website here, then let me know via Rafflecopter what you'd like to win (don't forget you get an extra entry for liking Get Lippie on Facebook, too):

Project Perfume - Andy Tauer Pentachords
I always think of Tauer perfumes as lush and somewhat baroque creations, so discovering that his latest collection - available in the UK from October - is an exercise in minimalism was fascinating. Each of the three initial fragrances in the series, which are named White, Auburn and Verdant, is made of 5 notes, and each of those notes is created from a single (synthetic) molecule.
Very interesting. I spoke to Andy last year and I know he's actually an advocate of using (some) synthetics in perfumes, in that they allow a stability in ingredient quality. Quality in natural botanical essences can be variable, and supplementing with the occasional synthetic can be a boon to a perfumer.
The scents are described as follows:
White: violet blossom, orris root, bourbon vanilla, amber gris, warm wood
Auburn: citrus blossom, warm cinnamon, fruity tobacco, dry amber, creamy sandalwood
Verdant: dewy leaves, suave leather, brown tobacco, sweet earth, vibrant amber
These are a massive departure for Andy, and after having an initial play with the samples I was sent recently by the ever-wonderful Ronny at Scent and Sensibility ( who have long been my favourite UK-based perfume supplier) I'm intrigued and fascinated by the fragrances. So much so that I'd like to write a joint review of the perfumes with one of my readers, I think they'll benefit from a set of opinions, rather than just my thoughts on this occasion.
I have a second set of samples here, and I'm going to send them to one of my readers in exchange for a review I can post here on Get Lippie. If you're willing to trial and test, then write about the scents, please either leave a comment on this post explaining why you're the best person for the job, or alternatively, send an email to tauer@getlippie.com doing the same. I'll pick a writing partner next Sunday, 31st July.

Review - The Sanctuary
The Sanctuary Spa, in Covent Garden, was one of my very favourite places, and had been ever since my first visit about five years ago. I loved that it's woman-friendly without being all fluffy and pink, but most of all I loved it because it's a spectacular oasis of peace and calm right here in central London.
I used to go two or three times a year, but on my last visit there was a bit of a customer service issue (which was never really resolved by the spa either at the time, or in response to emails after my visit), so I hadn't been for a while, but when I was invited to an event recently to celebrate their re-launch of their skincare range, and to announce the opening of three new branches (in Cambridge, in Richmond and in Bristol), I thought I'd pop along to see how things were.
During the event, I was struck by the obvious passion for the place from the staff, and was impressed by the entire operation's devotion to making the spa a real sanctuary for their visitors, and I have to admit that I was very impressed by this. I was also happy to hear that they've changed a lot of their skincare - I have to be honest, I was never much of a fan of it, and always found Sanctuary facials to be a little disappointing in the past - and I'm delighted that they're expanding their offerings into things like eyebrow shaping, and a more medi-spa offering in all their sites.
In fact, I was so impressed with everything they're planning to do that I went back - at my own expense! - last Friday for a day of R'n'R. As I'm still recovering from surgery, a lot of the facilities were inadvisable (the pools, the steam rooms, massages, etc), but the setting itself is so wonderfully relaxing that I still managed to have a great day. I started with a light breakfast in the koi carp lounge, then went to the third floor - the Sanctuary has 42 treatment rooms, an amazing number I still find hard to believe - for an express manicure and a perfectly polished pedicure. The manicure didn't quite last 24 hours, though the colour (Merlot from Jessica) is beautiful, I always go for a deep, dark nail colour when someone else is doing it, it's so satisfying seeing how neat a manicure can be! The pedicure, however, was amazing. My therapist, Hollie, was very sympathetic to my ... er... unusual foot situation, but the callus gel they use is AMAZING, and frankly, my feet have never been so soft. I bought a supply of this amazing elixir so I can replicate the results at home from now on!
I then had a lingering lunch in the restaurant - the food at The Sanctuary is much better than you might expect from a spa, you can eat healthily if you wish, or not if you don't! Generally, I choose not to, and had an excellent steak and chips for lunch, followed by an iced coffee in place of desert. Then to round off my day, I had a little post-lunch nap on one of the beds in the koi carp lounge. I didn't miss not being able to use the pools or the steam rooms, or anything of that nature and I had a wonderfully indulgent and relaxing day, I'm glad I decided to go back.
As for the revamped, repackaged and relaunched skincare, well, for me, the jury is still out. I have some bits and pieces to try - I have high hopes for the facial oil - and I'll bring you my thoughts as and when I get around to trying everything properly. But, one thing they've launched that I think is a great idea is the "Facial in a Box" kit, which has everything you need to give yourself a salon-quality facial at home. In two varieties, Brightening and Youth Boosting, the kits cost £16 each, and are a great way to acquaint yourself with The Sanctuary products.
Now, this post has been pretty London-centric, and I'm aware that many of my readers won't get the chance to travel to London to try out their facilities (though if you do get the chance, leap at it, you won't regret it!), so I bought one of the Facials in a Box to give away to one of you guys. Just leave a comment on this blog post saying what would be your ideal spa treatment, and I'll draw a winner entirely at random at the end of the week. The prize is a Brightening Facial in a Box, and I will ship internationally. You don't need to be a follower to enter this competition, but you do need to leave a valid email address in your entry comment. Good luck!

Birthday Giveaway Winner!
Yes, I know the announcement is a day late, I do hope you'll all forgive me! I did contact the winner yesterday though, so at least I managed to make someone else's day a little happier! Our lucky winner has elected to remain anonymous, but this was her winning entry:
Ten things that make me happy:
1. My husband - sickening but true. He also makes me crazy/angry/laugh/despair/throw things/bemused/proud
2. My friends - they are great. All of them. I'm not one of those people with masses of friends, but the ones I have are the best kind. When life goes wrong they bring wine and sarcasm and make it all better.
3. My cats - who can fail to be made happy by a cat that randomly bites you and uses people as trampolines, and and a cat that is so dumb that to list the ways in which she brings delight would take too long?
4. Baths - deep, hot, and the bubblier the better. I like a Lush bubble bath bar, or my REN rose otto oil - if only that made bubbles
5. My NEOM organic candles - one of the best things Get Lippie ever promoted to me
6. My nephews - especially when singing songs about poo. #Hey poo, where are you, I want to see you in the loo#.
7. Brownies from Borough Market. Nom nom nom
8. Good hair days.
9. Cakewrecks. I cannot read it without collapsing into laughter. The carrot riding babies! The cupcake cakes!
10. Lazy days on the sofa with old films and endless cups of tea. Aimlessly flipping through the channels when bored and miserable and suddenly finding a film you love is on. I did this the other week and found Calamity Jane in the middle of singing about the Windy City. Love it.
Bonus 11: Champagne! Cocktails!
These are what make me happy, and I am glad they exist.
The winner was picked in as scientific manner as I could manage, I shortlisted MY favourite entries and asked several other people which one they preferred. This one was the favourite. Our lucky winner has selected Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle as her preferred shade, and a gift voucher for this, alongside Chanel Particuliere, and Guerlain Khol in Oriental Metal has already been despatched, alongside a couple of other lovely goodies that I couldn't resist sneaking into the bag!
I had over 100 entries to this givewaway, and it's been an utter delight to have run it. Thank you so much to every single person who took the time to enter, if I had something to give each one of you, I would. You're an amazing bunch of people, and you shared some amazing stories with me, I'll do a post soon highlighting just how wonderful my readers are.
Thank you so much.
