Mary Kay Autumn Collection Competition
I love autumn, don't you? And I love autumn because makeup-wise it means we move away from the (unwearable to me) pastels of spring, and the bronzers of summer into lovely berry shades and gorgeous sludgey shades of makeup, which I always find so comforting. This coupled with snuggly blankets on the sofa, long evenings drinking red wine, and the prospect of Christmas on the horizon thrills my cynical little heart.
Other things thrill me too. I went to tea with the Mary Kay company recently, and was amazed to discover that they're one of the best-selling makeup companies in the whole world, and they're one of the top ten skincare sellers in the world too! It's criminal that we barely know they exist here in the UK - my US readers are always emailing me asking what I think of the products, and until recently, I didn't even know you could get them here! Well, you can, and in the new year, they're going to be launching a fab new way of getting hold of their products, which I'll tell you all about nearer the time.
Meanwhile, in order to celebrate autumn, and the soon-to-be increased visibility of Mary Kay here in the UK, I'm offering one lucky reader the chance to win the entire autumn collection of Mary Kay products that you see pictured here, which includes four nail polishes, three lipsticks, one eyeshadow quad (and a palette to put it in), three CityScape perfumed products (a shower gel, a body oil and matching perfume) plus their brand new exfoliating kit which will retail for £50 once it's on sale later this month. All in all the prize bag is worth almost £200!
To enter, just follow the guidelines below, and bear in mind, I will be checking the entrants carefully! Sadly, because the prize contains nail varnish, this competition will be open to entrants from the UK only. Sorry about that!

Get A Movie Star Hair Cut!
I've mentioned my love of Cult Beauty - and the Cult Beauty girls themselves! - a few times before. If you've not had a chance to look around the site yet, please do, there's a treasure-trove of rare, and usually wonderful beauty items to be found on there, I've filled (and emptied!) many a virtual shopping basket on the site, and there's always something I've never heard of that pops up and arouses my interest, which is no mean feat these days!
At the moment, they're running a competition to win a haircut from Tara Smith, who is legendary in Hollywoodland circles for her skills. Don't believe me? Ask Demi Moore, Anna Friel, Natalie Imbruglia, Yasmin Le Bon, Neve Campbell, Rosario Dawson, Marisa Tomei, June Sarpong (how did she get on this list? - Ed), Angelina Jolie, Teri Hatcher, Jamie Lee Curtis, Nicole Kidman, Angelica Huston, Patricia Arquette, Rosin Murphy or Toni Collette, all of whom she's worked with in the past. She's also done the hair for both the Sex and the City movies! And you have to admit, she has a pretty fine head of hair herself ... Ordinarily, a haircut with Tara would cost £450 - if you can even catch her in a salon - so this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, if you ask me.
The downside? Well, in order to enter all you do have to do is buy a minimum of five items from Tara's hair care range (and I'm not going to lie to you, that does seem just a little excessive) but the products all cost less than £5, and, whilst I haven't tried it myself (yet!) I have heard good things about the range generally, and excellent things about the Base Coat Serum in particular. Personally, I've been delighted to notice that all the shampoos are SLS-free, which is great for what is, essentially, a fairly budget-priced range. I'll be picking some items up soon, and I'll keep you posted on what I think.
The competition is running for six weeks, and the prize can be taken in London, New York or LA. But, er, there are no travel costs included, sadly!
Will you be entering? What would you pay for a movie-star haircut?

Advent Calendar Competition
Have I mentioned Wahanda yet? If not, I should have! I love spas and treatments, and Wahanda have a great selection of pampering treats. You can find anything from a gym session to a haircut to a full-on stress-busting spa day on their website, and I've spent many a happy hour on the website fantasising about what I'd like to spend my hard-earned cash on, I find it so difficult to decide though, there's too much to choose from!
I'll be spending a bit more time on the website from tomorrow as they're launching their Wahanda’s Advent Calendar 2009 competition which runs every day until Christmas day, and offers prizes worth around £10,000!
