I was reading Sparkle and Shade yesterday, written by the lovely Emily, and she mentioned that she'd had a little visit from the Fairy Hobmother, who had granted her wish for a bundle of fabric to make some pretty new clothes with. She then invited her readers to make their own wishes in the comments, in the hope that they would get their wishes granted too.
Being a cynical type, I ignored it. I'm nice like that.
Then I thought: Oh, to heck with it, Appliances Online are doing some amazing work building their SEO here, and granted, it's nothing to do with beauty, but they're actually doing some nice things for people whilst they're about it, so why not give it a go? So I left a comment, and presto! I got a little visit from the Fairy Hobmother making my tiny wish (for a food processor* to go in my tiny, tiny kitchen) come true too!
I know that my lovely readers are a cynical bunch as well, (and, my god, don't I love you for it!) but the Fairy Hobmother has assured me that she'll be reading the comments on this post, and making some more wishes come true too ... so tell her what you want, what you really, really want** in the comments and cross your fingers***. Who knows what'll happen?
** Sorry. No really, I am. Girl Power! Okay, I'm not sorry.
*** Cross your fingers after typing your comment, otherwise you may find yourself in difficulties.
The Fine Print: This is not a sponsored post. I'm just - for once - sharing the joy. Good luck!

This is such a nice idea! If I could have a wish it would be for a new mobile, I managed to smash the screen on mine the other day and I cant afford to get it fixed :( xx
ReplyDeleteThis is such a nice thing! I'm a pessimist but I shall cross my fingers anyway!
ReplyDeleteI wish for some new clothes. I (hopefully) will be starting Uni next month and have very little clothing!
I'm also lusting over a laptop, but I'll leave that for another day haha

Ooohh...I would wish for a proper expert pedicure for my awful nurses feet.
ReplyDeleteI'm on them so much and they do not look sandal-worthy, whatever I do.
I want to love my feet not be afraid to show my tootsies!
I'm a cynical old moo but this really is rather lovely so here we go.
ReplyDeleteI wish for a pretty walking stick for my Mum who has started suffering from horrible arthritis, and is too embarrassed to take her horrible ugly wooden one out with her. She deserves it so much, especially as for the last 10 years she has been looking after my Gran and Grandad who sadly passed at the beginning of the year and now she is free to live her own life a bit more she has been struck down by this horrible disease. Just not fair. She loves flowers and fairies and all sorts of pretty things so thats why I wish for a pretty walking stick she doesn't need to be ashamed of!
This is a really nice idea. I'm wishing for a massage at the moment (doesn't have to be delivered by Hugh Jackman, especially not with his Wolverine claws on).
ReplyDeleteAll my joints are sore and aching after some seriously hard graft decorating our house and I'd love to feel pampered and less creaky again.
Wow, how amazing! I'm trying to save up for a perfume I desperately want (le labo poivre 23). It's just so expensive! It's worth it, but I keep going into Liberty and spraying myself with it on a weekly basis (to remind myself how amazing it is). I am waiting for them to ban me from the shop for being a crazy perfume counter stalker lady. I'm hoping to make it a birthday present to myself next month :)

Oh, go on then! After all, it IS Friday (a day with well documented magical properties), and I DO have my fingers crossed, so there goes: I would love a ukulele to give to my darling OH who's been pining for one...you can tell he's the artist in the family :)
ReplyDeleteI will now cross my toes as well, for everyone!
Nina x
This really is a lovely idea. I don't really yearn for anything particular. But I did fall off my bicycle quite badly yesterday and wrote off both wheels. A bottle of Serge Luten's Daim Blond EDP would go a long way towards cheering up this bruised and sore cyclista, as all my spare cash is going to have to go on a pair of new wheels which, whilst practical, are not very glamorous :-( x
ReplyDeleteWow. Congrats! I'm a bit cynical too, but it seems that this little lady is for real!
ReplyDeleteI would love a membership for a gym, so that I can make a big change in my life and get fit and healthy. That is something boring I know, but I NEED to do it for my health.
Or I wish for a video camera so that I can make better quality you tube videos for my subscribers.
S xx
My one wish is for my boyfriend to fly over to Hong Kong (from London) to visit me. We've been doing long distance for a year now and we won't be seeing each other until Christmas, which is just too far away :'( I've been trying desperately to find a job in London but still no luck.

I really want to take my lovely husband off dog sledding with these chaps for our anniversary. He loves dogs, but there's no way that we'd feel right keeping one in London when both of us work. I want to make him stay in a yurt for the night too - he won't hate me because luxury camping isn't *real camping* is it??
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that's what I'd really love. :)
I'm so happy that the Fairy Hobmother granted you a wish :D What's fab isn't she?!
ReplyDeleteI have thought very hard, and what I wish for most (after a full night's sleep) is some new, properly fitted, bras. Six months since having my baby and I still haven't been to get refitted. My boobs are sad. They are putting a lot of work in to this baby and just not being treated properly. So I'd like some pretty, properly fitted, supportive nursing bras.
ReplyDeleteI have two wishes Fairy HobMother! I know you're dying to hear them!
ReplyDeleteFirst up. Well this ones not actually for me its for my mum. I love that woman I do. Anyway, she's always always wanted a dishwasher, but she's just got no space for one, so Im thinking a table top dishwasher would be perfect! It can perch perfectly next to her Microwave and jobs a good un'.
Next up. Me and the Children sadly cannot afford the holiday this year :( I feel so bad when my eldest is saying how all his friends are going on holiday, it does bring tears to my eyes at night when I lay thinking about it. So I'd just love one night away in a hotel. One night would do it, he'd be over the moon.
Fell free to choose whichever wish you want Fairy Hobmother! xxxx
If the fairy hobmother is reading I'd love a new coffee bean grinder in fact I've been wishing for one since mine died a couple of months ago I'm now using instant coffee - the shame!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww this is lovely.
ReplyDeleteDear Fairy Hobmother
I need shoes, pretty ones. Not practical shoes but shoes I can just put on my feet and stare at to make me happy.
Like cinderellas glass slippers
Aw this is quite nice actually!
ReplyDeleteMy current wish would be for a mobile phone. I have never had a decent one, never been able to afford to spend more than about £20 on one! I currently have no phone and miss being able to get in contact with family and friends!
Such a nice idea!
ReplyDeleteDear Fairy HobmotherI have been promising my stepmother that I would ditch the trainers and jenas to start dressing like a grown up (I'm told at 32 I should already be doing this!) I would wish for a wardrobe overhall it would make me happy AND my stepmother (she's lovely not wicked)
My big wish right now (which is actually a birthday wish, it's on the 31st of August) is to have the book Fragrances of the World by Michael Edwards- the new 27th edition. It's out of my price range, but it would be extremely useful to me as a fragrance writer. I am very hungry for information, and different perspectives. Thank you for this super opportunity, it's fun!
ReplyDeleteDear Fairy Hobmother...My innermost fervent wish is to be able to become a full-time writer and never have to work for a living again! ;) Or an agent of the literary sort. That would be good, too! Should that be far too much to ask, I'll happily settle for a bottle of Ambre Sultan instead.
ReplyDeleteActually, there is one thing more...except it's not a thing...;)
Lippie, this was an inspired idea! So now it just remains to cross my fingers...
Not a wish, I'll have to go and think about that, but I checked out Emily's post and the Appliances UK link just now and was amazed to see the first oven they had was the one I was admiring at my friends house today. Twas love at first sight!! So will definitely have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteSorry in my excitement at seeing the cooker I neglected to explain that I too moved to a postage sized kitchen 2 years ago and have been living with a bulit in oven with a broken seal. Seeing a cooker with a special cake setting was rather overwhelming!
ReplyDeleteA job. Yep, a job (with a non-insulting pay rate - say, USD$30 an hour.) I lost mine on Friday because of the corporate cutbacks (I was one of 5,000 and we didn't even get tee shirts), and I'd love a job doing web production or technical writing or editing. Something that lets me work from home would be absolutely splendid, because I've got the broadband access and all the software I need. (And then when we have really horrid weather, I can relax and be glad that I don't have to commute in that mess.)
ReplyDeleteMy wish Fairy Hobmother, would be some scarves.
ReplyDeletePretty, colourful, silky ones I can use to dress up my dowdy work suits.
Tess
I would like a cleaner. Actually no. I would like a holiday. We haven't been abroad in 16 years and I am TIRED.
ReplyDeleteSIXTEEN years.
*yawns*
and I'd like to come home to a clean house.
That is very cute! I think I would wish for some clothes because I can't spend a lot with my poor student budget ):
ReplyDeleteAwww Fairy Hobmother you're so lovely, I knew only good could come from believing in fairies!
ReplyDeleteIf I could have a wish granted right now I would love a theramin. All my money at the moment is going towards a business I'm setting up and it would be great to be able to start a new hobby learning to play my favourite instrument.
Or some pretty tights! :D
Another computer - so that I'm not fighting over our only one with my husband. And so I can devote some time to my website (when the children are all asleep) whilst he plays his games...
ReplyDeleteHmm. All my wishes seem so very huge or a little selfish :S Some funds towards being able to actually get married... Some funds towards paying the mortgage for a couple of months while I sort out going freelance... Too much? OK.
ReplyDeleteI'd love my own shiny new laptop so I can actually start drumming up some freelance work in my spare time because my real dream would be to freelance write and edit. *crosses fingers*
Failing that, I think the wish granting should go to Georgie who wished for a pretty walking stick for their mum because that's a lovely, selfless wish xx
This is so lovely! My wish from the fairy hobmother would be some new perfume (maybe Marc Jacobs Lola) or some nice quality skincare (maybe some of the Benefit B.Right Skincare products). I'm on the last placement of my nurse training at the moment and I need something nice to pamper myself with! Working shifts on a mental health unit doesn't leave much time to do anything nice for myself so a bit of luxury would be lovely!
ReplyDeleteLauren xx
I've seen this on a couple of blogs but thought they must be getting paid for it!
ReplyDeleteI'm wishing for a haircut. I haven't had one since before my wedding and my hair is a bit scraggly, with horrendous roots showing as well. Money is a bit tight at the moment (paying off some of the wedding!) so I can't get a cut and colour any time soon.
Oh this is good! (Terrific, funny and engaging writing, by the way.)
ReplyDeleteI wish for Angel perfume. And some makeup for a woman with a deep complexion, because after 10 years of country living I'm shot to pot. I'm supposed to look decent handling antiques, and not everybody appreciates the smell of horse manure. Okay, that last bit is an exaggeration, but you get the point!
(Psst! Delivery by Hugh Jackman a much-appreciated bonus.)
My wish is for Georgie's mom to get a pretty walking stick. There are so many things I could list for myself but reading everyone else's comments made me wish for one of their wishes to be filled instead and Georgie's stuck out =)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a nice thing to do!
ReplyDeleteI wish for the Enrapture Amplify Jumbo Hair Waver Tong. I love the beachy wavy look! But these tongs are expensive :(
Absolutley love this idea. My 21st is looming and I'm planning to make it an epic night! I wish for the perfect dress, or at least some champers!

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea. I have always wanted whiter teeth. My dentist says tray whitening is good, but its so expensive. I'd also love better skin but that is something that has no quick fix. Im working on that one! :)xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely hobmother! I would love a new camera to take better photos for my blog!
ReplyDeleteAnna x
What a lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteThe last few months have been rather stressful what with uni exams and now worrying about job applications, so I'd love to spend a day at a spa pampering myself and taking my mind off everything x
If I could I would wish for a new camera as I've been wanting one since aaages!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool idea :)
